CBRL is the UK's academic hub for the study of the Middle Eastern countries of Jordan, Palestine, Israel, Lebanon, Syria and Cyprus. Covering the breadth of the social sciences and humanities, we connect scholars in the UK and the Levant. We sponsor a large number of individuals and research projects in the Levant, in topics ranging from Palaeolithic archaeology to contemporary social science, fostering collaborative research with scholars in the region. We have research institutes in Amman and in East Jerusalem.
Currently, CBRL is partnering with the Nahrein Network to offer a Joint Visiting Scholarship Scheme that is open to academics, cultural heritage professional and NGO workers. The joint scheme is aimed towards engaging participants in the sustainable development of cultural heritage antiquity and the humanities in their home countries to better serve local, post-conflict needs. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to travel to the UK for 1-2 months for training and research.
