New Research Report: Empowering Women through Land Policy Change: The 'Soulaliyate' Movement

06/01/2017

Mohamed Said Saadi, who received a research grant from the Arab Council for the Social Sciences (ACSS) in 2015, has published a research report titled "Empowering Women through Land Policy Change: The 'Soulaliyate' Movement” with the Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs and the Asfari Institute for Civil Society and Citizenship in Beirut.

The report aims to illustrate how the Soulaliyate movement in Morocco was able to gain limited recognition of the Sulaliyate rural women right to collective land via public authorities, and to bring about modest policy change. Saadi draws on the Advocacy Coalition Framework (ACF) to analyze the process of land policy change.

The report can be obtained from the Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs office at the American University of Beirut or can be downloaded here.

Mohamed Said Saadi is a political science professor at Mohammed I University – Oudja, Morocco. He received a research grant from the ACSS in 2015 for his project titled: “Ninja Women”: A Case Study of Women Farmers in Berkane
